Who am I?

I am someone passionately devoted to life, justice and freedom. I live my life in a manner that allows me to explore these ideals up close and personally. In my professional life, I am skilled and effective. In my personal life I strive to be joyous and free. The balance between my professional and my personal life is created by bringing my personal values and love for life into my work and dedicating my work to bringing justice to the world and its people in whatever capacity and with all the resources  I can muster.

Conflict Resolution & Mediation

Building on specialized training at the Harvard School of Law in Cambridge (PON), I have developed extensive experience in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Though I am a skilled and tenured litigator, I excel at the art of negotiation and arbitration. I bring to these abilities a strong foundation in legal analysis and contract representation. I have mediated contract disputes in the context of family law as well as corporate and international law.

Diverse Life Experience & Service

I have served as a board officer for The Women’s Daytime Drop-in Center and Bay Area Women Against Rape (BAYWAR).  I am a former board member of Impact Carbon - An NGO that builds and supports projects that help people access new technologies such as clean cookstoves and water treatment systems in impoverished areas. Locally I serve on the board of the Richmond College Preparatory School. This school serves the financially challenged members of the city of Richmond, California. I have been a player, manager and captain of the Cedar Rose Soccer Team, and an avid participant and supporter of AIDS Lifecycle/Ride to End AIDS. My philosophy in life has always been to engage life the most where life struggles for more life. This philosophy has enabled me to meet and know people of different races, religions and nations and to bring that knowledge to my practice in  surprising and meaningful ways.

Civil Practice

I have maintained my own legal practice for over 30 years. My work has primarily been in mediation which has honed my skills of client representation and preparation. I have done extensive work with document and contract review, and when you put it all together, there is really no civil law situation that I am unprepared to handle. The brunt of my experience has been to serve my community with expertise in personal injury and family law.

Teaching & Traveling

I have an inborn love of this world and a desire to see and know about it as much I can. I am fluent in French and English and have some understanding of Spanish and Russian. I was born in France, and I also lived in the Republic of Guinea and the Soviet Union. The best way to learn, of course is to teach, so I pursued teaching within the context of spirituality - another foundational practice vital to my appreciation of life. I am a credentialed teacher of meditation techniques and spiritual tools that are easy and practical to learn and use anywhere in any context. I have toured the world using these tools to deepen my understanding of life and its underlying mysteries.
